MysticBliss: Prescription from the Tao

Meow Tzu by Marcy Hall

Listening to: Cello like no other.

Today's Bliss Formula: A sunny, temperate day perfect for weeding -- an activity I happen to enjoy! But it's Sunday, so perhaps the day calls for lazy reading (i.e., not really reading but looking like you're reading while you are actually just lounging in the yard looking at the sky).

The guidance of the Universal One
of natural wholeness is therefore:Empty your mind.
Enjoy good health.
Weaken your ambitions.
Strengthen your essence.

--Number Three
from The Tao Teh Ching
as translated by
Hua-Ching Ni

Some really basic rules for living a good life.

Empty your mind: This does not mean, of course, to stop thinking. It means to live from your heart and your instincts. Stop mistaking your brain for your Self.

Enjoy good health: Eat, drink, and be merry! I think too many people equate health with rules and regulations, when laughter and having fun are the most important components of it. A happy person is a healthy person.

Weaken your ambitions: No, don't move back in with your parents and develop your slacker side. But don't mistake material success for a good life.

Strengthen your essence: Be you. Find and live your bliss, regardless of what other people expect of you. Period. Let no one or no thing be an excuse for not living the life you know you have inside you.

And since it's Sunday, remember to celebrate, somehow, the idea of Sabbath.
