EcoBliss: Blueberries & Lunch Boxes

A Frog wearing a polka-dotted hat to pick blueberries.

Listening to: Wrong berry but it will do!

Today's Bliss Formula: Seemed to be getting some sort of wicked summer cold thing last night and woke up feeling bad but not nearly as bad as I had assumed I would feel ... so perhaps it will just LEAVE, with the help of orange juice, soup, goldenseal, and oreganol (very powerful stuff, that).

This past weekend, we were surprised by an invitation from some friends to go blueberry picking. Oh, it was a glorious day for such an adventure. Warm and sunny but with a breeze. Comfortable for being out in blueberry fields -- which are notoriously hot for those little blue marbles of wonderful to fill up with yummy sugar.

We came home with twelve quarts. Then we froze them on cookies sheets so that each berry really did sound like a marble rolling around. Now we have six very large bags of blue sunshine waiting for the middle of winter; what joy that will be!

We kept some out, of course, and perhaps I will take some tomorrow to my new little job at the library in my new, totally cute lunchbox.

You can get this here.

I remember years ago watching a Chinese film and being mesmerized by the stackable lunchboxes the children carried in the movie. I wanted one!

And then I happened across these. For $20, I think they are the ultimate adult lunchbox.

First of all, brown bagging is way good for the planet. But even better if you don't use a brown bag! Or plastic. Of course, a Hello, Kitty lunch box would also do, but I like the uniqueness of these. They start conversations.

And I'm all about starting conversations. I mean, you just never know what you could share with a complete stranger in terms of helping the planet if you happen to be carrying something rather chic!

Which brings me to second of all, not only will you do your part to help the planet, you will look good while you do it. Cause I'm sorry, but the brown hemp look is a little too martyr style for me.

I want pink! I want glitter! I want shiny! Call me a crow!

A third benny of brown bagging -- or silver boxing -- is your own health. If I don't take my own food, what do I end up eating? Yes, that's right...crap!

I end up eating bread. And as you know, I feel my best when I don't eat wheat (both physically and mentally).

I end up eating something that is not organic. And organic is my number one food "rule." Besides, it tastes better.

So I'm thinking that the top part of my new lunch box will hold lots and lots of those blueberries...
