An outdoor rabbit completely relaxed by our Japanese Maple.

Today's Bliss Formula: Yesterday was filled with bike riding adventure -- totally spontaneous, which is rare for me. And today is a resting day.
Last night, as I was sleeping,
I dreamt -- marvelous error! --
that I had a beehive
here inside my heart.
And the golden bees
were making white combs
and sweet honey
from my old failures.

Don't turn away.
Keep your gaze
on the bandaged place.
That's where the light
enters you.
-- Rumi
I love these two poems so much. They don't deny the dark; without dark there can be no light. But neither of them spend any real time there -- except in relation to making something of it.
Yes, accept our darkness and our failures; accept all of it. The mystery and the grief and the beauty and the deformity.
Say yes.
And then say, what can I make of this?

The message in these poems remind me of the lyrics from a Leonard Cohen song:
Ring the bell that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack
a crack
in everything
That's how the light gets in.
Sometimes when I'm at my "worst" I'm really at my best--most in touch with the deepest part of me. Especially when I can stay compassionate with myself and remember my connection to the cosmos.
Dog ma, (love that name, by the way), What a great point you make about being at your best through patience and compassion toward yourself. Thank you for joining our discussions.
