RandomBliss: Things I Love Thursday

Listening to: Something silly. This made me laugh right out loud a couple of times.

Bliss: A bit of a lie-in this morning. Perfect morning for it -- gray and rainy and a little chilly. No lights on in my writing room right now, just a hint of bright from the window yet gray enough to light a candle, glowing up the orange walls. Peace.

This week seemed to be a PissedChick kind of week, didn't it? And though she still has more to say (and probably always will!), I thought it would be nice to take a break for today and write a more joy-centered post.

A joy-centered post also felt like a good idea in light of the news that has so many people frightened and depressed and anxiety-ridden. Remember to take breaks from consuming too much negative, manipulative media and also remember that, though the fear may feel real, it's not. It's just a reaction. Are you healthy? Is your family healthy? Are you eating good meals? Are you still able to have fun? Then nothing is really wrong at all.

Right here, right now...all truly is well. ("All" that really matters, anyway, and now might be a good time to reevaluate your idea of what matters.)

Onto some things I am just loving right now:

As you can see to the right, I have joined Facebook. What unexpected fun this is! I am a gen-x'er, so I am all about technology...to an extent. I am still a bit older than the age group who has created the whole social networking thing, and I wasn't totally getting it. Or maybe I was resisting it...who knows? But I LOVE Facebook. There's this slight "Twitter" aspect to the status bar. (I'm still resisting Twitter; does anyone have any idea why I should not? Besides the fact that I have about twenty book ideas rattling around in my head -- ha!)

Speaking of books, Mr. Neil's newest one is out, and though it is mostly being categorized as young adult, he feels very strongly that it is for adults. (Not that I wouldn't read it anyway.) For now, my copy from the library is just sitting, waiting. I walk past it and kind of flirt, putting off the actual reading...delayed gratification and all that.

Something that really has me happy right now is the last bit of summer flower garden in our backyard. Beautiful to look out the kitchen window and see this:

This weather! If you are into Autumn right now, as we are, can you stand it? I can't get enough of that especially-for-fall deep blue sky and the clouds have been breathtaking, not to mention, of course, the colors of the trees and the smells and the feel of the air and the comfort of the temperatures and the birds moving about and the geese at night, being able to hear them high above, thousands of them. Autumn is just so magical. For a little something to help you with the magic of the season, you might want to check out this place.

This new source (to me) for music. If you love music like I do, I think you'll enjoy this. Seeing the musicians and singers in such a raw environment, seeing their true talent is always so exciting.

You know how much I love skirts (or maybe you don't). And I have found some new lovelies. Reversible lovelies. How much better does it get than that!?

Snuggling. 'Tis the season! Blankets, oh, blankets! Blankets with cats on top! Two humans squished under a blanket on a couch bookended by two, big, white fluffy cats (and perhaps a small gray cat behind them on the back of the couch). Wearing thick, soft sweat pants around the house all day. But still being able to be barefoot. Yum.

The change in food: soups and hot chocolates and tea and squash dishes and more cheeses and casseroles and baked goods and these awesome gluten-free brownies -- when you're desperate for a brownie and don't have time to mess with baking gluten-free from scratch.

You know we haven't had a car (intentionally) now for over seven years, but we are contemplating this (two of them) for next spring -- check out the blue and white one. Just so we can be a bit more jaunty nine of the twelve months. It gets about 90 miles per gallon and being a Honda is, of course, very "clean." Besides, it would be so Europe! Oh, the Audrey inspired outfits I could construct around this!

A few favorite posts from the past week or so: one, two, three, four, five, six.

Spend some time at number six -- those rabbits will teach you a thing or two!

Have a glorious and peaceful day. Breathe when you are confronted with negativity. Breathe deeply. Spend some time around beauty. Listen to good music. Drink something yummy.

And, again, remember that all is well.

Thanks for the introduction to Disapproving Rabbits. Very fine!
I joined Facebook once but got all the people at work I don't like finding me and asking to be friends. I think I may join again under a false name!

Hey, if you DO rejoin under a pseudonym, let us know! I think that sounds like a FINE idea. :)

Wow!! I discovered your blog through Connie at Dirty Footprints and I'm so grateful! Your words are so uplifting and even though I try to take every moment as it comes and live a joyful life, reading such inspiration really helps.

I loved this "...though the fear may feel real, it's not. It's just a reaction. Are you healthy? Is your family healthy? Are you eating good meals? Are you still able to have fun? Then nothing is really wrong at all."

So true.

Thank you for what you do!

best wishes
jennifer
