RandomBliss: Starting the New Year with Powerful Feminine Energy
Listening to: Some of the new Niyaz to start the year off right.
Bliss: Upon waking to a new year, the sun was shining...and it still is. The sky is blue. We took a short walk outside to say hello to the juncos and the cardinals and to view the crazy, playful rabbit tracks from overnight. A beautiful day.
Happy & Bissful New Year to all of you! Thank you for the amazing and thoughtful comments yesterday. So often, we have no idea how we affect one another, and to be told is a great gift, one I can only hope to live up to.
Today, this first day of a brand new and bright year, is, fittingly I think, the Solemnity of Mary.
For a year so pregnant with possibility for those of us in the United States, I think taking some time today to contemplate the power of feminine energy is appropriate.
If you don't have a connection to Mary in particular, is there a Goddess figure that speaks to you? Spend some time with her today and just listen to what she may have to say about your coming year.
Though I teased about setting resolutions that might be not challenging enough or too unattainable, there is certainly never anything wrong with setting intentions. We should be doing that every day upon waking, really, so to do it at the beginning of the year, the waking of the year, is right and proper.
(Tess mentioned in a comment that she will be trying to add a new habit each month this year, and I think that sounds quite challenging and I'm excited to hear about her progress.)
What intention is the feminine energy calling forth from you? Is she speaking to you of rest and rejuvenation? Or perhaps she is telling you its time for some serious forward motion.
Whatever it is, write it down and create an altar space around it. Read it every day. Ask for help, if need be. Take care of yourself, as any good mother would tell you to do.

Thank you for this thoughtful post. I have been a student of yoga for a year now so I'm pretty new to this... Here goes!
My intention for this new year is to stay on the path of Karma Yoga and help carry out Sw. Vishnu Devanada's message of peace and sustainablity.
May the Goddesses bless you with all their hands.
They're only going to be small new habits, but hopefully they'll add up to something bigger! My first is getting up when the alarm rings, not turning over for another ten minutes, and another... I managed it this morning!
I like this post about powerful feminine energy, although I have difficulty with the word "feminine". It smacks to me of pink and frills. I had the same difficulty all the way through Sue Monk Kidd's Dance of the Dissident Daughter. But "female" sounds a bit anatomical.
Anyway, I'm quibbling about semantics. For me as I emerge t'other side of menopause, feminine energy is indeed powerful - about wisdom, about growing into crone-hood. I think I may have to look to archetypes such as Hecate for my identifiers here. Interesting question, I'll have a think.
My Dear Friend..the happiest of new years to you! I look forward to another year of sharing time with you via my computer monitor and through my heart strings that still swim in the beautiful Lake Erie!
Peace & Love.
Mary saved me with her love (well really I believe it's the love inside of me that connects to the All) during a very difficult time of grieving and healing many years ago. So I, as the embodiment of Mary/goddess energy, had the intention of birthing the Christ consciousness during my Solstice retreat. And.. I had no idea what that meant...Now, with your dissolution post from a few days ago you have encouraged me to do some letting go around my struggle for Right Livelihood. And, I think a new career is crowning. I'm finally feeling alive again! Thank you and I see much joy and playfulness coming your way as you "fly" this year.
I love the idea of setting new year's intentions instead of resolutions. Embracing my feminine strength and intuition is a great intention to start with.
