SharedBliss: Astrologer & Life Designer Heather Horton

Heather Horton
of Indigo Life Designs

Listening to: I've posted this before, but I think its perfect for Heather.

Bliss: My writing for this blog is finished very early in the morning on Wednesdays, so I am trying a new routine: Wednesday will now be reflection and poetry day. My partner would tell you that my essential nature is "Poet," and I have not been working from that heart and head space for far too long. Here's to new routines.

I am a Scorpio.

I would imagine that there is, at minimum, quite a handful of you out there who are nodding your heads, lifting your eyebrows, and saying something along the lines of "mmmm..."

I was born on November 20th, so I am very close to the Sagittarius cusp, which I like to think mellows my somewhat prickly Scorpio edges. I like to think this makes my Passions more creative rather than angry (though there is PissedChick...).

I like to think these things, but I don't know for sure, because I've never had a chart done, and now I think I have finally found the person to do it.

Heather Horton approached me some time ago, I think via Daily Om, to ask if she could use some of my writing for her newly launched on-line magazine, Inspired Action. I said "of course!" Eventually, we found one another through Facebook, and I finally got wise and asked Heather for an interview.

Heather uses the metaphorical and archetypal images and stories of astrology to help you have the life, the love, and the work that you want and that fits you best. You can find her very affordable products and help right here.

For more information on what she does, go here. And she is also, like I said, on Facebook.

Describe the PrimaryBliss of your life. How did you come to know that this was your PrimaryBliss?

The PrimaryBliss of my life has to be assisting people in their soul growth through life and small business advising, coaching, and writing. I came to know this was my PrimaryBliss upon intensively studying astrology and consulting people. The more I helped people understand their true being, the more blissful I felt. I found that interpreting the language of astrology and advising how to manifest the energy bestowed upon an individual brings clarity to them and removes much of the unnecessary chaos that life can seem to present.

What types of choices and sacrifices did you make to be able to craft this bliss-filled life?

I chose to pursue my true bliss and that true bliss was to become an astrological advisor. Once I committed to this choice, I would not allow anything or anyone to distract my soul’s desire or to “naysay” me out of my pursuit. I’ve had to make difficult choices and many sacrifices, including the ending of a few friendships that were not serving me or the other person. As painful and heart wrenching as it is to see friendships dissipate, it would be painful and heart wrenching later to realize I gave up my blissful soul’s pursuits because I allowed someone on the opposite path to influence or consume my time and energy in the wrong direction. I down sized my life in multiple ways, mainly in the material illusions of happiness, which has alleviated many stressors and enriched my life in the grandest of ways. Once many of the obstacles were removed off the blissful path, I was better able to craft the map of my pursuits.

How does your PrimaryBliss radiate out into the rest of your life?

My PrimaryBliss radiates out into the rest of my life through everything that I do. My life is calmer, sweeter, softer, more colorful, and more joyful.

What are some other activities that also give you this sense of bliss? Things that make you lose track of time?

I could lose days if the sun never set just sitting by a lake with a quiet fire watching the cloud formations, smelling the scents of nature, and listening to the subtle sounds of life surrounding me.

What is your daily or weekly spiritual practice?

My spiritual practice is multi-faceted. As a mother I want to instill values to my children so we give thanks while holding hands before every meal. We also do yoga together several times a week. I read religious texts and meditate on those ideas. I also find that gardening during the day and watching the stars at night are both fantastic spiritual connections.

What music is your bliss?

I love all types of music. I have classical or jazz playing on the radio most of the time and have noticed that my plants enjoy the music as well since they tend to grow in the direction of the radio. A good dance club song is always a great way to get the body moving and let loose. I’m also a huge Beatles fan and if I had to pick one CD to take on a deserted island with me it would be the One album.

Name books or authors/poets or people who are your bliss, who influenced your bliss.

I’m a fan of reading Biblical scripture with its poetic style and imagery. I find Shakespeare always a bittersweet inspiration. I enjoy the subtle astrological references in the works of these authors fascinating.

What advice would you give to someone who feels they have not yet discovered their PrimaryBliss?

First, don’t stress yourself out looking for it or think you don’t have a PrimaryBliss, it’s there. Sometimes we need the reflection of someone else to remind us of what we are attracted to or listen to the repetitive things we say as indicators of our bliss. Also, daydream, especially about what it was as a child that you wanted to be when you grew up. Reflect on your inner child and remember the imaginative things you used to think about or do before you were taught to forget and turned to focus on the material world. These will reveal the flickers of light within and once discovered will brighten into your PrimaryBliss.

Do you have a favorite quote you would like to share?

“All that we are is a result of what we have thought.” –Budda (563-483 BC)

My business statement mark is: “Change the Color of Your Paradigm” - Indigo Life Designs, ltd (2007)

My favorite part of this interview is Heather's reminder that we know things, things we have forgotten, and that it's just a matter of allowing ourselves to remember. Really, we know everything, deep down, everything we could ever possibly need is already within us.

This makes getting a birth chart done make even more sense. What exactly was going on when you were born? I mean this in a divine, universal, Nature-based way, of course. What was going on, what wisdom context were you born within, and therefore, what wisdom lies dormant inside you, waiting?

Haha, PissedChick - I have one of those, too. My birthday's November 19th. :-)

I think it's true that we as children knew so much more about ourselves than we realize as adults. It takes a lot of work to uncover those hidden secrets, but it's ultimately worth it.

First off, I'm November 19th too! Sag rising, also... and I agree with the Sag influence as a mellowing one. I am totally not the vindictive scorpio of lore. But I have that PissedChick, too. She mostly likes to be left alone.

I like what Heather Horton is doing, also. I get it. Makes a lot of sense.
