enCouragingBliss: A 100 Day Vow -- I Double Dare You!

It has been interesting reading the answers to the question for the Moleskine Giveaway. (There's still plenty of time to get your name in the drawing; you can post answers until Sunday 7 PM, New York time.)

The question, of course, is what 3 things would help you to follow the path of you bliss in bigger and more fulfilling ways?

So much of what comes up for people in this listing has to do with health -- of the mind/body sort.

We've had some discussions about our bodies recently on Blisschick, and there has been one enCouragingBliss when you were asked to really face and transform some bodily demons.

In that challenge, I start by asserting that in order to fully live your bliss, you must first be fully situated within the vehicle that is your body.

So, this week, in response to that post and in response to what seems to be a theme in our current needs, I have a extra big challenge.

This is inspired by Lisa over at Nerdy Renegade, who is right now riding the wave that is intense grief. She committed in a comment to 100 days straight of yoga. No days missed. Period.

Here's the Challenge:

Pick ONE thing.

Maybe it's ten minutes of quiet before you leave the house or get on the computer or talk to another person.

Maybe it's yoga every day -- or t'ai chi or running or whatever it is that is prayer in motion for you.

Maybe it's that you won't eat any sugar. Mine is NO GLUTEN. Not any. I have gone for over a month, but that's the longest I have made it. And that is ridiculous because I am like a new person when there is no gluten in my diet.

Pick the thing that you know you should be doing or not doing but you've been avoiding it because it's something you're really attached to (or unattached to).

Pick something super hard. Come on. This is a challenge. Find those edges and ride them for 100 days!

You can leave a comment or you can Mister Linky and write a post about what you've selected, why, and how you will keep track of yourself.

That last part is really important. We must be held accountable when trying scary, difficult things. I will periodically post a check-up within these enCouragingBliss Fridays.

If you start today, you'll be done Saturday, July 25th.

Remember, I won't post all weekend, which leaves this at the top of the fold for three days. Three days for you to make a decision and take the vow.

Do it!

How stunning that you should post this now. I have received a metaphorical very loud whisper about something I must change. Yes, attachment/pleasure poses a huge challenge. Yes, doing it will bring such Bliss.

Now I ponder. What if I fail to do it? What if I fail to make the change I must?

Christine - What a great challenge! For me, it is going to be to meditate for at least 10 minutes every day. I've been better about it during Lent, but haven't kept with it EVERY SINGLE DAY as you propose. I know it would benefit my migraines, yet there has always been that resistance. This is my chance to get serious, post-Lent, and stick with it. Thank you for this incentive and encouragement.

Ok Christine - this is going to be rough but I am up for it. For me it is Kundalini Yoga. I love it, it's good for me, it centers me and yet I can't seem to get it in everyday. Perhaps this public declaration is all I needed.

Oh my...

Now we've been DOUBLE DARED!

I...I might just have to take you up on this dare!

Still pondering, but will decide shortly...

Christine: astounding! you seem to be attuned to several of us- your readers :)
Just yesterday I began nia- a wonderful goddess dance excericse that rocked my world as it is what practice I have been searching for!
I vow to do it 2x weekly as well as my 30 minutes 3x weekly home yoga/pilates/rebounder.

Also: I need to be more diligent with my blog: setting a posting schedule! Need to learn from you to send reminder emails whenever I post (how did you do that btw?)

Kudos- you rock!

Yikes! What a challenge. How, how, how do I narrow down my long list of self improvement possibilities to.... One
Single Thing?

I've been in deep contemplation since yesterday morning. Even though I teach yoga three times a week, my personal daily practice has been stagnating. Therefore that is my first thought, to renew my dedication to yoga. But would that be something "Really Hard"?

There are so many things I could benifit from committing to for 100 days.

-stop picking at my fingernails and cuticles and take care of my messed up hands

-eat totally vegetarian

-recommitt to walking 20 min. every day

-No Junk Food!!

-Stop swearing

-play guitar and sing

Well, I am still working on a decision. On Monday I will post my vow.

Pardon me, for taking up so much space in your comments section Christine. Also coming Monday... my very own blog!!! There. I've publicly announced it. Now I will follow through.

Thank you again for helping me to achieve it.

christine, thanks for the help and for the challenge!
There are so many things I should commit to doing every day (and some days I halfway get there!) -
meditate,
create,
walk around my garden,
zumba, run, cardiobox, my pick!
The one thing that might help me focus on all the other stuff is the hardest of all...
JOURNAL every day...with my first cup of coffee every morning...
there! I've typed it, I'm promising myself...done! 100 days of journaling coming up...

So, will there be lots of beautiful Blisschick love and support as I vow to walk every day, rain or shine, even if its just around the house once or twice?

Gold stars on the calendar should keep track of it nicely. This will be...interesting.

Diane, Feeling resistance to something and then doing it anyway -- what a GREAT place to be, ripe for learning and growing.

Joy, YAY! Kundalini! Remember, one day at a time, and before you know it, 100 will be behind you and you'll just. keep. going. :)

Karmacoy, Perhaps 100 days straight of bloggin? Even if it is just something very, very small? That should kick start your blog, wouldn't you say? ;)

Claudia, Sounds awesome! Email me with your questions about blogging...I'm not entirely sure what you're referring to.

Liz, Good job with the comment! ;) And I think you picked the perfect vow!

Deborah, You've chosen the same as Grace -- a walk every day outside. You can motivate one another just knowing there is someone else out there doing it! :)

I'm in! So, I have wanted to develop a more personal, daily practice so this is my chance. 100 days of yoga for me - on and off the mat - whether for ten minutes or more. Thanks!!

You know, the women in our family always say "don't dare me, 'cos you know I'll have to do it" (I remember my mother once threatening - in fun - to hit my father with a frying pan. "You wouldn't dare..." he said. Thunk.)
Thank you for providing this space of accountability. My practice is going to be writing my morning pages, and I know it's going to be tough sometimes.

I've already committed to 40 days of yoga - everyday - so why not make it 100?
:) Thanks for the challenge....

Oh, Christine, I needed this challenge!

I vow that for the next 100 days, I will only buy essential items. I will see how much money I can save from simple awareness and simple living. :)

Sometimes i find myself wandering around a store with an urge to buy, and I end up buying needless clutter.

Thanks for the challenge!

Hi guys- I clicked on this on MOnday morning, as my weekend got away from me. Will be putting up a post as soon as I can today, but would love for folks to stop by, and I will make the rounds to your blogs as well.

xoxo

I am vowing not to spend money on unnecessary items for the next 100 days (no $5 filp flops, cute tee's, lip gloss, etc.). I just stared my new blog, Simply Zen, to help me on this journey. What a perfect opportunity this is going to be for me! Woo Hoo!

Yay me!! I did it! I have a blog AND a five day strong committment to practice yoga every day, at the beginning of every day! This will be completely separate from the classes I facilitate each week. I do this as a means of health for my body mind and spirit as well as a establishing much needed ritual and setting my intentions for the day!

It felt good to see my name up there on the list with all of you other fine bloggers.... at last!

karmacoy! CONGRATULATIONS!! YAY! I tried to be the first commenter on your blog, but there is some sort of problem. Oye, this new comment type that blogger allows only works about half the time. SO...

Go into your layout and comment settings. make sure you have "anyone" selected for who can leaved comments, and THEN for the format of the comment, select "full page" for the style. That embedded below the post thing is a HEADACHE!

Email me if you do this and maybe I can still be FIRST!

YAY, AGAIN!

I found out about this via the Nerdy Renegade, and I think it's a splendid idea. I'm a little late, but I've decided to participate as well! :) Thank you for putting this out there.

Now I see what you are talking about Christine...full page format is now selected. Please feel free to comment :-)!
