At 4:15 PM on Sunday, June 7th, our dear, sweet friend, Ken, passed away.
Marcy and I are deeply saddened, as are many people in our small city.
Ken touched the lives of so many, as a teacher, as a friend, as a lover of music and art and all that is beautiful.
For him, I will not wear black. I will wear pink and glitter, paying attention to all the details, as he would.
For him, I will not fear. I will live this life, day to day, knowing not a moment is to be wasted, knowing I no longer have time for small mindedness, for ever feeling bored, for avoiding adventure and risk.
For him, I will not stay inside, confined to sadness. I will feel the warm sun on my face; I will walk amongst the flowers; I will seek out transcending moments of culture.
Above all, I will swim in this sea of love that is the memory of him. I will be grateful for the time we had.

What a beautiful way to remember a life.
I am so sorry for your loss. Your beautiful words and intentions are a wonderful testament to his Life.
Interestingly enough, your friend came to my mind during my morning meditation time today. I said a small prayer for his soul to be free and embraced by the glorious light of divine being, even though he may not have known that assurance while here in earth.
I wish you all a special measure of peace and comfort in the days and weeks ahead.

I wish you and yours well as you contemplate the joy this man brought to your lives, and that his memory will continue you bring you over the years.
We are blessed to know certain wonderful people in our lives. They touch our hearts, inspire us and blaze trails we are honoured to also walk.
All we have is love, in the end. Might as well carry that forward as long as you can, eh?
I'm sorry for your loss, but I'm glad that you can remember him in joy.
So sorry to hear of this loss. What a beautiful gorgeous way to remember him. The three paragraphs beginning "For him..." - you've written this almost likely poetry.
Ken was clearly an inspiration and a beautiful friend. This is a wonderful tribute to him.
So sorry to hear this. Thinking of you and Marcy and wishing you comfort and peace.
Yes!! What a glorious way to honor him and to honor this life in general.
Namaste, pink glitter gal. :)
So sorry for your loss... I could not help but think of my dad, who passed away at the early age of 53. I wrote a piece for him VERY similar to what you just wrote for your friend Ken.
I understand your grief...
hugs to you and Marcie!
